There is no substance involved, but the pattern can feel the same: wanting to stop, not managing it, and feeling ashamed about both. The way I work is the same as with substances. The difference is the behaviour, so each has its own page.
Choose the behaviour
A note on language
The World Health Organization recognises gambling disorder and gaming disorder in its ICD-11 classification, in a group called disorders due to addictive behaviours. Compulsive sexual behaviour disorder is also recognised, but in a different group, as an impulse control disorder. Problematic pornography use and general phone use are not formally classed as addictions in the main diagnostic manuals. That does not make them matter any less if they are hurting your life. I use the term problematic use for some behaviours for that reason; if you describe it as addiction, I will use your word.
